for Wind Band (Grade 1), Commissioned by the 2021-2022 Brandon Valley Intermediate School 5th Grade Band; Brandon, South Dakota. Del Hubers, Director
An excellent first-year or second-year band work that teaches three different articulations, contrasting dynamics, and varying entrances. Many percussion parts that are adaptable for various performance situations.
Hey, You! is a cheeky, fun piece based on the common saying that is used in a game of hide-and-seek and other games played on the playground based around finding people. The music itself has some main contrasts: between three different articulations: staccato, slur, and accent, as well as between loud and soft. The melodies repeat but they change a little bit every time, which feels a lot like the changing environment of the same game of hide-and- seek.
Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Clarinet (Horn alt.), Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Alto Sax (alt.)/Horn in Eb, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone/Euphonium BC and TC, Tuba BC/Eb/Bb, Timpani (opt.), Bells (opt.), Xylophone (opt.), Percussion 1: SD/BD, Percussion 2: Woodblocks/Triangle, Percussion 3: Bongos/Crash Cymbal.
