Grade 2.5, duration 3'00"
commissioned by Kristen Pomietlarz and the West Seneca East Middle School Bands
Ballrooms have always fascinated me especially when I recently visited the Turner-Dodge House (in Lansing, MI) which has one on its third floor. The ballroom is an exciting environment from a time gone by in which patrons get together and dance the night away. This piece is a testament to human beings’ need to be social and have fun, despite what life may throw at us.
Features:
- Standard grade 2 ranges, instrumentation, and technique
- Part independence
- One key change (some accidentals too)
- Irregular phrasing (counting rests other than 2, 4, and 8 bars)
- This would be best for advanced middle school bands, or smaller/younger high school bands
