Night Games was what a group of kids and I called the neighborhood games that we would play at sundown. It was a sensational event amongst the kids, and even our parents, throughout the neighborhood. Often we would play games like Ghosts in the Graveyard but also we would play games of soccer, which was the first one we all actually played together as an entire neighborhood in attendance. This fanfare's fugue-like gestures recall the games that were played, and the lyrical bridging sections evoke the mysterious feeling of nighttime we felt as the sun went down and daytime went away.
