for Reed Quintet (Grade 2)

Commissioned by Ben MacDonald

Recording by the Arcane Reed Quintet, with score

An easier piece for reed quintet (who's ever heard of that?!) which would be effective for younger musicians wanting to form a reed quintet for the first time, a chop-rester piece for a collegiate or professional reed quintet, or even to help a newly-formed group get to know each other's playing!

I had a conversation recently with a friend about the effectiveness of the word "yet." "I can't do this...yet." "I don't know this...yet." These and similar statements are powerful because they show learners that they have the potential to do something that they may not be comfortable with...yet. There is always room to grow, which is why I felt this was a fitting title and piece for the first in the method book Reed Revolution: A Fundamental Approach to Reed Quintet Music!
